Inspiration: “a thing or a person that inspires. Inspire: to fill of affect with a specified feeling, thought ect. To influence or impel.
A person that gives me inspiration and inspires me is my fabulous friend Kathy Ruppert. She inspires me with a feeling of worth and importance. She influences me to be a better person in every area of my life.
From the day I first met Kathy at a PTO meeting (my son Alexander had just started Kindergarten) I had an immediate and overwhelming feeling of acceptance. Sure, it sounds strange to some, I know. Her warm smile and care for me as a new parent in the school was something I never expected.
Kathy and I have been friends for six years. Over these years we have had hundreds of conversations. She has never an ill word to say about anyone. She steps up every time to be there for the person next to her, stranger or friend.
She has encouraged me to follow my dreams and even pushed me to believe I could do the impossible. I can count how many friends I have left after the loss of my brother. While heartbreaking to have to lose any, I lost many. But Kathy stood by my side through my grief. In fact the day I got the phone call about my brother’s accident we were at a scout event together. I looked at her and without asking she said “I got Alexander, go.” She came to support me while I took on going to beauty school and came in to the salon to help insure I reached my goals. She inspired me to run my first half marathon and she started the race with me when I ran my full marathon. When I doubted myself through training and injury she believed in me. I can call upon her for help with my son and his struggles. She talks it through with me, gives me ideas of what I need help with. I could go on and on describing what she has done for me and my family.
I have never met a more selfless person. I have done nothing to earn such a love from a friend. What I mean by that is, I didn’t have to earn or work for my friendship with Kathy. She had it ready to give to me 6 years ago at that first PTO meeting.
Her kindness and love has been the most inspirational thing in my life. I don’t talk with Kathy everyday, I don’t see her as much as I use to but her love is just as strong as if I talked with her everyday. She truly is the one person I know I can call with anything and her response is “what do you need me to do?”
I’ve always said to her “I want to shrink you and carry you around in my pocket all day.” I’m blessed to have a friend that loves and believes in my so much. I can be my complete self with her without fear or judgment. She has no expectation from me.
She is slow to anger and always finding the positive in things. And she is so selfless that she doesn’t even realize the greatness that she does.
In the bible it states what love is in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrong. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres.”
My fabulous friend is love and shows me such love everyday. Kathy inspires me to be that loving person she is for myself and for others. Kathy inspires my heart, my mind, and my soul. Know what the most minding blowing part for me is, she has no idea how amazing she is or what a strong inspiration she is. That truly is selflessness.
